Obituary

Rosa Mancini (nee Mastellone), age 87, of Little Ferry, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026, cradled in the embrace of her adoring family. A luminous soul, she was the devoted wife of the late Corrado Mancini, beloved mother of Camilla Leventhal and her husband Barry and Corrado Mancini and his wife Diane. Rosa leaves behind a legacy that flourishes in her grandchildren Corrado, Alexander, Jenna, Angelica, Ava, and Kayla, and great grandchildren Summit, Jack, and Brooks. She is survived by her sister Susan Thoens, and in her heart, she carried the memories of late siblings, Marie DeVincenzo and Andrew Mastellone.

Born in Sorrento, Italy to the late Laura (nee DeMartino) Mastellone and the late Francesco Mastellone, she crossed oceans to plant roots in a new land, proudly immigrating to the United States. Rosa worked as a talented Seamstress after settling in Hoboken. She told stories of her work, spent hours teaching her grandchildren to sew, and was always happy to tailor your clothes for the price of a brief lecture on the best way to do so. Her brilliance and resourcefulness was evident in the ways she reused and mended fabric throughout her home and her closet.

Rosa kept tradition alive. She cooked traditional dishes on Christmas Eve and played scopa on Easter with her children and grandchildren. A devout catholic, she was a parishioner of St. Margaret of Cortona R.C. Church and a member of La Madonna Dei Martiri. Rosa nurtured life not only in her faith, but in every seed she planted in her garden, where anything could thrive under her care. If you visited her home, she would greet you with delicious food, fresh coffee, and lots of stories while Rai Italia played in the background. She made sure her family would leave her home with full stomachs and a bowl of figs from her garden.

Rosa’s love for her family and friends was undeniable. Throughout her life and in her final days, she’d start with “I remember…” before recalling details of those she cherished so deeply.

She will be forever remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength.

A Visitation in Rosa’s honor will be held on Wednesday, February 25th, beginning at 4 P.M. and concluding at 8 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 26th, 10 A.M. at St. Margaret of Cortona R.C. Church. She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington.
