Robert A. Seitter, a lifelong resident of Ridgefield Park, passed away peacefully in the quiet comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the age of 93 years young. A man of unwavering dedication, Robert was the loving husband of Agnes (nee McDermott) Seitter for 67 years, sharing a bond that was the cornerstone of his life. He was the devoted father to Robert Seitter and his wife Denise, Debbie Slattery and her husband Ray, John Seitter, and Kelly Stellakis and her husband Craig, proud Poppy to Kimberly and Garrett Schwind, Jacqueline Seitter, Ryan Slattery, and Elizabeth and Emily Stellakis, and the best Great Poppy to his greatest joy, Halle Schwind, and dear friend and navy comrade to Anthony Britton.
Born in the Bronx, New York to the late Amelia (nee Jacobi) Seitter and the late Charles Seitter, Robert’s life was a tapestry of rich experiences. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955, stationed in Key West, Florida, aboard the USS Salinan. After his service, he worked as a committed member of the Operating Engineers Local 15 for 25 years, earning the respect and admiration of all his colleagues.
Robert was more than just a hard-working man, he was an avid fisherman and boater, becoming a lifetime member of Locust Point Yacht Club in the Bronx, NY. A handyman with a green thumb, Robert could build and grow anything with ease—from the water tunnels of New York City to the tallest sunflowers in Ridgefield Park. His love for red wine, his skill behind the camera, and generous spirit made him a cherished friend and helper to all who knew him. He delighted in family cruises, insisting that everyone stay on the same deck, and his famous words, “I’m a millionaire, as long as I’m with my family” echoed his true sentiment. Robert’s legacy is one of love, unity, and the delight of togetherness. He leaves behind not only his family but a lasting imprint on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Visitation in Robert’s honor will be held on Friday, September 26th, beginning at 3 P.M. and concluding at 7 P.M., with a Funeral Service on Saturday, September 27th, 10 A.M., at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus.
