Raul Ortiz Sr., age 64, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, of Ridgefield Park, passed away on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Andrea Cruz Ortiz and the late Cristino Ortiz, Raul was a man of great strength, kindness, and devotion. As a Driving Instructor, he guided countless students not just to learn the art of driving, but to approach life with confidence and responsibility. He was also a jack of all trades, always ready to lend his skilled hands to anyone in need. But perhaps one of his greatest joys was baking, a craft he poured his heart into. Especially his famous pastelon, Tres Leches, and cheesecake became a symbol of his love, and it was never just about the delicious treats he made it was about the love he put into each slice. Raul delighted in sharing his creations with family and friends, creating moments of connection and joy wherever he went. Above all, Raul’s love knew no bounds. He was the beloved husband of Norma Acevedo Ortiz, the proud father of Raul Jr. and his wife Lorraine, Naomi Iris Diaz and her husband Rafael, and Xavier Ortiz, and cherished grandfather to Raul Rafael, Marianne Elyse, Emmanuel Luis, Iris Jolie, and Gio Rafael, whose presence in life brought him immeasurable joy. Raul was a true family man, and his warmth and affection for his loved ones were felt by all who knew him. He was also the caring brother of Isabelle, Josephine, Modesta, Antonia, Mario, Delia, Anna, and the late Robert and the late Pete, and a constant source of support and strength. Raul’s passing leaves a void that will never be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts lucky enough to have known him.
A Visitation in Raul’s honor will be held on Saturday, May 17th and Sunday, May 18th, beginning at 2 P.M. and concluding at 6 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 19th, 10 A.M., at St. Francis R.C. Church. He will be laid to rest at Cypress Hills Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
