Michael L LaTorre

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael L. LaTorre, of Toms River, a man whose life was defined by the love for his family, on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Born in Jersey City, NJ to Starr (nee Gozdenovich) LaTorre, Thomas LaTorre Sr. and stepmother Carol. Michael lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and hard work.

He leaves behind his beloved sons, Michael and Garret LaTorre, grandson Troy, and his former wife Rosie, who remained a loving and caring friend. His siblings Thomas LaTorre (Nancy), Russell LaTorre (Lisa), Tracey Yawger, along with many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

Michael grew up learning the value of hard work early in life where he was known for his craftmanship and commitment to doing things right the first time. He found peace in the outdoors, loved his dogs, and had a special gift for nurturing any injured animal he found back to health. But what Michael loved more than anything was fishing with and being with his sons.

“My Dad was more than just a father to me – he was my best friend. Someone that never grew up and always had that young spark in him, someone I could be myself around. No one can replace the way he made me feel. He was the most forgiving and loving person I know, who could never hold an ounce of hate in him – he only had love to spread. He had endless energy and always wanted to do something with my brother and I, no matter the time or the day. He would always be there for you. He had so much life to live and so much love to give. I love you, Dad.”

A Memorial Service in Michael’s honor will be held on Saturday, November 1st, beginning at 12 P.M. and concluding with a prayer service at 3:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers the family requests making donations to your local or favorite animal shelter or to plant a tree.
