Matias Niebla

Matias Niebla, age 99, of Elmwood Park (formerly of Bogota), passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 26, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 71 years to the late Yluminada (nee Concepcion). Matias was the devoted father of Ramon Niebla, Merida Mesa, and the late Barbarito Niebla. The greatest joy in his life were his cherished grandchildren Nidia, Albert, Michael, Adrian, Yareli, Mareli, and Damari, Lourdes, and Daniel and proud great grandfather of 17 great grandchildren.

Matias was born on February 24, 1925 in Las Villas, Cuba in the town of Fomento to the late Alfonso and the late Michela Niebla. He was employed with Siltex as a Format Textile Printer producing premium quality fabric graphics for trade serving the tri state area for many years before his retirement. Matias was a strong hard working family man he tended to care for his loved ones and put them above all else. He especially enjoyed spending valuable time with family and friends drinking a cup of Cuban espresso “Cafecito” sharing laughter along the way. He was resilient and truly enjoyed life leaving heartfelt memories to all who knew him.

A visitation in Matias’s honor will be held on Friday, August 30th beginning at 4 P.M. and concluding at 9 P.M. A Prayer Service will be officiated on Saturday, August 31st at the funeral home commencing at 10 A.M. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus
