Marilyn H. (nee Muller) Lavender, a beacon of love and warmth, passed away peacefully at the age of 91, on Friday, August 29, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of family and faith. Born in Jersey City, NJ to the late Teresa (nee Sommers) Muller and the late Stephen Muller, Marilyn was the beloved wife of 28 blissful years to the late John (Jack) Lavender. Marilyn was the cherished mother of Kathleen Pein and her husband Gary, Lorri Lavender, John Lavender and his wife Patricia, Timothy Lavender and Janice Longo and her husband Frank. She was a loving grandmother to 14 adoring grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy and her love for them knew no bounds. She is also survived by her sister Maureen Medina and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her grandson Timothy Lavender, her sister Barbara Roy, and brothers Stephen and Michael Muller. She spent her later years traveling and enjoying life with her loving partner, Andrew Reardon of Wyckoff, NJ. Marilyn dedicated a significant part of her life to her role as a homemaker, finding joy in the simple pleasures of family life. She also worked as an Administrative Assistant, leaving a mark of kindness and compassion in every office she graced. A devoted parishioner of St. Brigid R.C. Church in North Bergen, NJ and her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Marilyn’s passions extended beyond her family. She had a zest for travel and an unbeatable spirit when it came to Scrabble, always ready to challenge family and friends. Marilyn’s presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Visitation in Marilyn’s honor will be held on Thursday, September 4th, beginning at 4 P.M. and concluding at 8 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 5th, at St. Francis R.C. Church beginning at 9:30 A.M. Interment to follow at Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee.
