Maribel Landrau of Little Ferry, NJ, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025. She is survived by her three children: Jorge, Ashley, and Denise, and leaves behind four cherished grandchildren.
Raised in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Maribel moved to New Jersey in 1990, where she would go on to build a remarkable career at Seton Hall University. In 1991, she began her journey as a dedicated Seton Hall Pirate, first serving as a secretary for the Puerto Rican Institute, and later for the College of Communications. Throughout her years of service, Maribel worked tirelessly to earn both a Bachelor’s in Catholic Theology and a Master’s in Systematic Theology. Her passion for learning and dedication to her faith were evident in all that she did. In 2020, Maribel became Associate Director and professor for the University Core Program, inspiring countless students with her deep Catholic devotion, kindness, and commitment to their academic and personal growth.
Maribel was a devoted mother, grandmother, friend, and professor, who lived her life with a fierce love for her family and a deep sense of purpose. She took great pride in ensuring that all three of her children received a Seton Hall education, a testament to her belief in the power of knowledge and faith. On campus, she was a beloved and well-recognized figure, known for her vibrant spirit, compassionate heart, and unwavering commitment to her students, colleagues, and community.
Maribel’s legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her memory and impact will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her extraordinary life.
A Visitation in Maribel’s honor will be held on Friday, March 28th, beginning at 7 P.M. and concluding at 9 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 29th, 10 A.M. at St. Anastasia’s R.C. Church, Teaneck. Burial will be private.
