Margaret M. Nassan “Meta” of Ridgefield Park passed away peacefully on her 87th birthday to be reunited with her beloved son Brian Nassan. Born in Jersey City, NJ to Charles & Mae Clarke, Meta is predeceased by her children Mark, Matthew and Maureen Nassan and her husband Bob Seltsam; her grandchildren Nicholas, Aidan, Maeve and great grandson Elijah; step-grandchildren Eden & Rene; her siblings Bobby, Charlie & Jimmy and many nieces and nephews.

Meta was a bank teller before becoming a full-time mom. She worked as a preschool teacher when her children were older and then worked for Shop Rite for 28 years before she retired in 2010 to help care for her grandchildren.

She was a natural born athlete. According to her eldest brother Bobby, she was the best baseball player in the family. She could play any position on the field but particularly enjoyed striking out her other older brother Charlie whenever he faced her on the mound. She enjoyed playing summer baseball games with her children and the neighborhood kids. She played softball with her co-workers from Shop Rite and she enjoyed playing tennis.

She was funny, personable, approachable and loving. Her door was always open to anyone who wanted to chat, have a cup of tea or even a place to rest for a while. She enjoyed the company of her family and friends and was always up for a good time. She loved going to concerts, listening to music, traveling and tending to her garden.

Visitation will be at Vorhees-Ingwersen Funeral Homes, 59 Main Street, Ridgefield Park, NJ, Thursday, July 2 from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Cremation private.
