Joseph Armand Cerniglia, 81, of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 4, 1943, in Manchester, New Hampshire, Joseph was the beloved son of the late Frank and Jessie Cerniglia. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph Cerniglia of Pompton Plains.
A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Joseph went on to become a dedicated truck driver and later co-founded Framar Trucking Inc. with his father. He was also an active member of the Elks Lodge, where he built lasting friendships and generously gave his time to the community.
Joseph had a passion for life and enjoyed playing cards, fishing, shooting pool, bowling, taking trips to Atlantic City, betting at the racetrack, and listening to doo-wop music.
Known for his vibrant personality and quick wit, Joe was always ready with a card trick or a joke and brought joy wherever he went.
Above all, Joseph was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan (née DeCicco), his children Kevin and Danielle Wynn (née Cerniglia) of Verona, Adam and Nicole Pucciarelli (née Cerniglia) of Wayne, Jolene Cerniglia of Ridgefield Park, Douglas and Melissa Cerniglia of Nutley, and his daughter-in-law, Melissa Cerniglia (née DeVries) of Pompton Plains. He was a proud grandfather to Evan, Olivia, Michael, Nicolette, Nicholas, Addison, Dominic, Luciano, Nicolas, and Sienna. He is also survived by his siblings Vincent Cerniglia of Clifton, Frank Cerniglia of Missouri, and his sister-in-law Linda LeStrange of Paramus.
Joseph will be remembered for his warmth, strength, sense of humor, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the trumpet he played, the music he loved, the friendships he nurtured, and the family he cherished.
