Frederick Hotz passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026 at Villa Marie Claire Hospice, Saddle River, NJ after a brief illness. His close friend Nancy Asdal of Dumont was at his side, and his longtime friend Robert Spahn of Lodi was with him during his last hours.

Fred was a lifelong resident of Bergen County residing in Hackensack and Ridgefield Park. He graduated from Hackensack High School and Bucknell University. His business career included credit management at Conoco (predecessor to ConocoPhillips) and subsequent positions in business.

An avid skier, Fred was a long-time member of the Garden State Ski Club, serving as President, Board Member and Parliamentarian in the 1990s and 2000s. He organized and ran several successful group ski trips to resorts in Colorado, Alaska and Europe.

Fred was an avid reader of WW II history literature and business journals and was an aficionado of challenging crossword puzzles. He was fascinated by the ways of nature and animals and was devoted to his sweet Labrador mix dog, Lily.

Fred was always ready to provide what support he could to friends during times of illness or disability. His jovial and friendly ways with people and children as well as his good-natured, keen wit earned him many friends over the years.

Fred is preceded in death by his sister Carol Hotz and his parents Dorothy (nee Painz) Hotz and Frank Hotz. Among his friends, he leaves behind many cherished memories of camaraderie and good times, and he will be greatly missed.

A Visitation in Fred’s honor will be held on Thursday, January 15th, beginning at 11 A.M and concluding at 1 P.M. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus.
