Dalia Martinez (née Ruiz-Estevez), 86, of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family Born on September 25, 1939, in Sitio Grande, Las Villas, Cuba, Dalia lived a life defined by devotion, resilience, and deep love for her family. She immigrated to the United States in 1969, embracing a new chapter while maintaining strong ties to her Cuban roots and heritage. Dalia lived the American dream that she and her husband created for their family. They worked hard to give their daughters a good life. She quietly helped others and touched many lives. She formed lasting friendships with neighbors who became as close as family. A faithful and devout Catholic, she was a parishioner at St. Francis R.C. Church, where she attended the Spanish Mass. Family was the most important part of her life. After her loving and devoted husband, her grandchildren were her greatest joy, keeping her busy and happy. She beamed with pride as her great-grandchildren began to arrive. Dalia was the heart of the family—the link that kept everyone together—preserving Cuban traditions at home not only during holidays, but throughout the years. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the comforting presence that made everyone feel welcome. She also had a passion for gardening, maintaining an impeccable and vibrant garden full of flowers. She loved photography, a passion she passed on to her daughters. Dalia was kind, elegant, and always well put together. She enjoyed celebrations and traveling to Florida and Texas to visit family and close friends. She was the beloved wife of 68½ years to Wilfredo Martinez; devoted mother of Odalys Martinez-Ruiz, and Arelys Martinez-Constenla and her husband, Gonzalo Constenla. Cherished grandmother of Joseph, Christopher, Cynthia, Andrew, Daniel, and Lauren and their spouses; and loving great-grandmother of eleven wonderful children, ranging in age from 1 to 13. She was also a loving aunt to countless nieces and nephews and held a special place in her heart for her goddaughter, Iris Alvarez (née Ruiz), and her family. She was lovingly known as “Cusa” by her family and close friends—a name affectionately given by her husband and cherished by her grandchildren, who called her “Cusita.” She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her and will be forever remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength, her generosity, and the untiring care she gave to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply. She was predeceased by her parents, Benito and Amada Ruiz; her siblings, Zaida, Orlando and Orestes Ruiz-Estevez.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church, 114 Mt. Vernon Street, Ridgefield Park, NJ, on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 4:00–8:00 PM at Vorhees Ingwersen Funeral Home, 59 Main Street, Ridgefield Park, NJ. Querida abuela de Joseph, Christopher, Cynthia, Andrew, Daniel y Lauren y sus cónyuges; y bisabuela cariñosa de once niños maravillosos, de entre 1 y 13 años. También fue una tía cariñosa para innumerables sobrinos y sobrinas y ocupó un lugar especial en su corazón para su ahijada, Iris Álvarez (de soltera Ruiz), y su familia. Su familia y amigos cercanos la conocían cariñosamente como "Cusa", un nombre que su marido le daba con cariño y que sus nietos la apreciaban, quienes la llamaban "Cusita". Será profundamente extrañada por todos los que la conocieron y amaron y será recordada para siempre por su calidez, amabilidad y fortaleza inquebrantable, su generosidad y el incansable cuidado que brindó a quienes la rodeaban. El velorio tendrá lugar el miércoles 25 de marzo de 2026, de 4:00 a 8:00 m, en la funeraria Vorhees Ingwersen, 59 Main Street, Ridgefield Park, NJ.
