Carol A. Hotz, 81, of Hackensack, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Hackensack University Medical Center after a brief illness. Carol was born on January 27, 1939 to the late Frank and Dorothy Hotz. She is survived by her brother, Fred, of Ridgefield Park, and also leaves behind her beloved dog, Lilly. Carol graduated from Trenton Teachers College, majoring in elementary education. Her teaching career was spent in Oradell, where she taught 2nd and 3rd grades. She was dedicated to her profession and students which was recognized by being awarded the Teacher of the Year honor. Ever curious and eager to learn, she spent many of her summers visiting most countries of the world, a true world traveler. Her extensive slide shows were always fascinating and educational. One highlight of her travels was her visit to China, with a teacher’s group, just after relations between the countries were reestablished. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time in her 2nd home in the Poconos. Carol was a generous donor to many charities ranging from animal welfare to human issues. The funeral service will be held 10:30AM on Tuesday, February 18th at Vorhees Ingwersen Funeral Home with interment following at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 to 6PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Carol A. Hotz to (Bonnies Animal Rescue Kingdom) B.A.R.K. 148 Broadview Terrace, Paramus, NJ 07652.
