Brian Heuer

Brian Scott Heuer, of New Milford, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at the age of 45. Brian worked as a crisis counselor for the Bergen County Special Services in Saddle Brook where he would offer assistance and support to students in distress. His care for others was demonstrated throughout his life as a mentor, friend and coach. Brian travelled throughout the country and abroad as a midfielder for the Union Lancers Soccer Club for 12 years. He was an All-State soccer player at Oratory High School in Summit. Brian played soccer at La Salle University and graduated from there in 1995. He was the Head Varsity soccer coach for 9 years at New Milford H.S. One of his greatest pleasures was being able to coach his son, Jack at the High School for the past two years. Brian was also the freshman basketball coach. Brian enjoyed being a volunteer baseball coach for New Milford Little League. He worked for years as a bartender at the Westside Tavern in Ridgefield Park. Brian was the beloved husband of Leigh (nee Cunningham) Heuer and loving father to Jack Ryan Heuer and Mackenzie Ann Heuer. Devoted son of Deborah (nee Colella) and Brian W. Heuer of Wall. Dear brother to Keith Heuer and his wife Dannielle and Kimberley Ellery and her husband Michael. Cherished son-in-law of Virginia and Tom Cunningham, and brother-in-law of Tom and Stacey Gibbons. Adoring uncle of Ryan, James, Sean, Luke, Emma, Abigail, Paige and Dylan. Brian is also survived by his godmother, Cheryl Gaiser. Before getting married and moving to New Milford, Brian resided in Wall. He spent every summer of his life with his toes in the Spring Lake sand and fishing with his family. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 - 8pm at the Vorhees Ingwersen Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis RC Church in Ridgefield Park at 10am. Cremation will be private.
