She retired as a registered nurse from Hackensack University Medical Center and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ridgefield Park.

Mc Gaughran, Florence R. (nee Brennan) age 92 on March 20, 2009 of Bogota formerly of Ridgefield Park. 

She was born in Leeds, NY and grew up in Brooklyn. She retired as an accountant from Pantasote Industries in Kearny. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s RC Church, a member of Woman’s Club, Bogota Seniors, Southeast Senior Center in Englewood and former Board of Trustee, AARP Ridgefield Park, Columbiettes and was formerly on the  Board of Adjustment Committee.

He owned Gaylord Cleaners in the Bronx and was an Air Force Veteran.

Lance, Iris Dircks age 79 on March 6, 2009 of Little Ferry

Iris was a long time animal activist since the 1970’s.  She retired as a flight attendant from Sea World Airlines, was a member to the American Legion Auxiliary in Little Ferry.  She represented a ranch in NY in Madison Square Garden and was a personal friend of Gene Audrey. Iris dedicated her life helping the homeless animals. She was the voice for those who could not speak.  

She is survived by her cousins Howard Steiner of Strousberg, PA, Marilyn Warren of Chester, NJ, Carol Norton and caring friends who were with her during her sickness and death.  She will be missed by many, including the four-legged animals.

Toscano, Helen M. (nee Ferrante) age 90 of Ridgefield Park on March 6, 2009 at Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin, NJ.  

Helen was born on August 5, 1918 in Hackensack to the late Louis and Felicia Ferrante and lived there until her marriage in 1950 when she relocated to Ridgefield Park. Helen was employed for 37 years as a Head Teller at Bank of America witnessing that institution’s morphosis from Peoples Trust of NJ to Bank of America.  She volunteered at Holy Name Hospital for 20 years and was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ridgefield Park where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Shepherd’s Flock.  

Beloved wife of the late Joseph L. Toscano and loving sister of Louis C. Ferrante of Ship Bottom, NJ and the late Faustina R. Campbell and Doris M. DiPaolo.  In addition to her brother, Louis, Helen is survived by 4 nephews, 2 nieces, 6 grand nephews, 5 grand nieces, 4 great grand nephews, 3 great grand nieces and a host of cousins and dear friends who were very kind to her during her confinement.

Mills, Julia P. (nee O’Connor) on March 4, 2009 age 79  of Ridgefield Park. 

Beloved wife to Joseph Richard Mills. Devoted mother to Gilbert, Richard, Catherine Maiorino, Joseph D., Daylinda Snyder. Loving Grandmother to 8 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. Mrs Mills was a retired Probation Officer from the Bergen County Probation Department and she was a Parishioner of St. Francis RC Church and a member of their Prayer Group.

Altavilla, Dorothy C. (nee Hochgesand) age 77 on March, 3, 2009 of Little Ferry formerly of Ridgefield Park. 

Dotty is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Salvatore, and her cherished children Diane King Jameson and her husband Andrew (AJ), Debra Merrill and her husband Jerry, Dawn Greco and her husband Thomas, and David Altavilla.  She was the proud grandmother of six beautiful, caring grandchildren:  Shane King, Vanessa, Heather and Justin Merrill, and Scott and Katharina Greco.   She is also survived by her loving brother and sister, Frank Hochgesand and Linda Gnecco, and her cousin/honorary sister, Katharina Sosbe.  Dotty was also loved by many nieces and nephews, as well as her faithful dog Buddy.  

After her retirement from Springfield Instruments, where she was the Customer Service Manager, she devoted her time and effort to enjoying her retired life by traveling, solving complex jigsaw puzzles, and expressing herself in many artistic hobbies.  Dotty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, always caring for others more than herself. She loved nothing better than to be surrounded by her loved ones, enjoying a huge family dinner on Sundays and on holidays topped off by one of her famous homemade, expertly decorated cakes.

Visiting will be held at Vorhees-Ingwersen Funeral home, 59 Main Street , Ridgefield Park , NJ , on Thursday, from 7 to 9 and Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral from Vorhees-Ingwersen Funeral Home 59 Main St. Ridgefield Park on Saturday at 12noon. A Funeral Mass will be offered at. St. Francis RC Church, Ridgefield Park at 1pm. Visitation Thursday 7-9pm and Friday 2-4 & 7-9pm. The cremation will be private.

O’Rourke, George M. age 66 on January 26, 2009 of Ridgefield Park. 

He was a salesman for Thacher Courtals Plastic in Paramus, Committee Chairman for Pack #167 and a former midget football coach in Ridgefield Park.
