Di
Archangel, Daniel L. age 78 passed away on January 3, 2009
at home surrounded by his loving family after a long
and courageous battle with cancer.
He
was born in NYC, resided on the West Side of Manhattan as
a child. He settled in Ridgefield Park for 35 years.
After retiring in 1999 he has lived in Mays Landing for
the last eight years where he loved the community. He was
a army veteran (1951-1953) where he served in Germany,
after his honorable discharge in 1953 he remained in the
army reserves until 1958. He was a member of the
Ridgefield Park Baseball Organization where he served as a
player agent from 1970 to 1979. He was a member of
the International Longshoremans Assoc. for 50 years with
his last union association being with ICA Local 1588 in
Bayonne. He also worked at Madison Square Garden as an
usher for many years.
Beloved
husband the late Lorraine C. (nee Zanne). Devoted
father to Daniel M. Di Archangel and his wife Deborah,
Michael Di Archangel and his wife Linda, Patricia
O’Grady and her husband Alan and Robert Di Archangel. He
is also survived by his grandchildren which he loved with
all his heart. Daniel R. Di Archangel, Michael A. Di

her husband Rocco, Michael O’Grady, Alan Patrick

Murphy,
Arthur George age 72 of Toms River
formerly of
Ridgefield Park passed peacefully at home on December 10,
2008.
He
was born in Jersey City and was the son of Helen (nee
Johansen) and Arthur L. Murphy. He graduated from Snyder
High School where he was a champion swimmer. He was a
dedicated Jersey City Policeman for 30 years. Prior to
becoming a police officer, he was in the navel reserves.
He enjoyed spending time with nature especially fishing
and bird watching. Arthur was a handyman
extraordinaire.

husband of 54 years to Elizabeth (nee Darmofalski).
Devoted father to Deborah Prosceo, Arthur John Murphy,

Edward Francis, 90, of Ridgefield Park, went home to
be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 21, after a long
illness. He was born and raised in New York City.
Beloved
husband of Audrey (nee Salvesen) for 60 years. Loving

his wife Mary. Devoted grandfather to Adam and his wife
Amanda, and to Christopher and Brian.
Proud

over 50 years, he was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi
Church, Ridgefield Park, serving as Eucharistic Minister,
usher, member of the Finance Committee and the Holy Name
Society. Also, a supporter of Xavier High School and the
Jesuit Order in New York City. A long-time member of Sons
of Norway Lodge. In
1990 he retired as Traffic Manager from Patent
Construction Systems, a Division of Harsco Corporation.
Previously, he worked many years for the Railway Express
Agency.

Elliott,
Walter S. age 89 of Ridgefield Park on October 16,
2008.
Born
in Atlantic City in 1919, he resided in Millville, NJ
before completing his public education in Weehawken and
then moved to Ridgefield Park in 1950 after his marriage
to Josephine Elliott (nee Cenno). Mr. Elliott served four
years in the United States Army with the Tank Destroyers
in World War II receiving eight decorations including the
Bronze Star as well as five battle stars and the Bronze
Arrowhead denoting his participation on the assault of
Omaha Beach, Normandy, France. The French Government also
presented to his a medal depicting their appreciation for
his participating in the invasion of Normandy. In the fall
of 1999, he was invited by Governor Whitman to report to
an Armory in Hackettstown at which time the New
Jersey Distinguished Service Medal with a silver leaf
cluster (signifies combat unit) was awarded to him.
Shortly thereafter, his WW II diary was documented and is
now at the Sea Girt Armory with other memorabilia of the
war. He was a highly active Mason – A Past Master
of Mosaic Lodge, Ridgefield Park, Secretary of Whitehead
Lodge, Cliffside Park, A Past High Priest of Palisades-Pentalpha
Chapter of Royal Arch Masons as well as serving as Grand
Chaplain and Grand Marshal of that order. He holds
that Bronze Medal, an award presented to only one mason
per year, a 32nd Degree Mason and Life Member
of the Scottish Rites of the Valley of Northern New
Jersey, a charter member of the Haggai Lodge of Mark
Master Masons and served as President of the Masonic
Kilties of New Jersey, as well as District Deputy Garnd
Master of the Third Masonic District. In 1953 Mr. Elliott
became a Shriner. He also was a past Advisor and member in
good standing of the Order of Rainbow for Girls and holds
their highest award – the Grand Cross of Color. Mr.
Elliott was also the grand Senior Deacon of the Provincial
Grand Lodge of Lanarkshire, Middleward, Scotland as well
as an honorary member of two Masonic Lodges in Scotland.
He was a member of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin
(Episcopal) in Ridgefield Park. He joined St. Mary’s in
1953 until its closing in May 1999 and served on their
Vestry as well as Church Treasurer for 17 years. He
also was a member of the Ridgefield Park Seniors.
The Ford Dealer of Westwood, NJ employed Mr. Elliott in
1957 as Sales Manager and he retired in 1989 as a
Comptroller.
His
wife Josephine, a daughter Joann Sandler, a daughter Donna
Elliott, a daughter Patricia Pasechsnick and a son Walter
survive him. Surviving also are nine grandchildren.
The
Masonic Kilties of New Jersey at Vorhees-Ingwersen Funeral
Home 59 Main St. Ridgefield Park will confer Masonic
services on Sunday evening at 8pm. The funeral service

lifelong resident of Little Ferry, and more recently
residing in Cape May, NJ.

service to the ladies auxiliary of Little Ferry Hose Co.

County & New Jersey State Ladies Auxiliaries. She was
a member of the Little Ferry Senior Citizens Club for over
20 years.

Lang,
Dorothy E. was born on March 11, 1927 and died
September 6, 2008 at age 81.
She
lived in Ridgefield Park almost all her life. Her parents
had 5 children: Lawrence, Grace, Stanley, Dorothy and
Elwood. The Lang family was one of the first families to
settle in Ridgefield Park. Dorothy was very talented in
music and the sciences. Dorothy and her siblings
played the piano, guitar, marimba and other instruments.
They played and studied all kinds of music, especially
classical, big band and swing. Her sister Grace
played the piano on an amateur radio hour. Dorothy was
very intelligent although she did not finish high school.
In eighth grade, she won the math award. Her prize
was an engraved algebra book. Dorothy also loved
sports. She was an avid tennis player and also enjoyed
playing softball and football with her siblings. Dorothy
lifted weights. She could lift over 100 lbs. over her
head, although she weighted not much more. Dorothy was not
able to get out into the working world because she had to
take care of her mother. She lived all her adult life with
her brother Lawrence. Dorother loved cats and had many
during her lifetime. She said that she taught one cat to
shake paws.
Dorothy
is predeceased by her parents Charles and Elizabeth and
her brother Lawrence, she is survived by her sister, Grace
Fast of Wellington Nursing Home in Hackensack, her brother
Elwood of Hackensack, NJ and her brother Stanley of
Bevery Hills, FL.
The

retired as a sheet metal worker for Kent Lighting in
Brooklyn. He was a Little Ferry Volunteer Fireman, Hook
and ladder Co. 1 and served as chief of the department in
1957. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and parishioner
of St. Margaret of Cortona RC Church.
